Alysa-Beth Engel was born in Toronto in 1972. Engel studied Fine Art at Queen’s University (BFA Class 1) and was awarded the Queen's Appeal Undergraduate Scholarship for high academic standing. Alysa has curated exhibitions, worked as an archivist, an art consultant, a yoga instructor and as a writer. While living in the UK (2002-2006) Alysa worked at Sotheby’s (London) and in her Chelsea Bridge Studio. Alysa's art is in corporate, public and private collections in Canada and abroad, including the Donovan Collection. Her work explores Jewish identity, vulnerability and meditation. An artist member of Open Studio Contemporary Artist Centre, Alysa lives with her husband and two children.
